Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
  • Previous chef or cook experience preferred
  • Ability to perform cooking shows and engage with guests
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food safety standards
  • Ability to follow company service and cooking procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon guest inquiries
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units and chef carts
  • Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, and kitchen equipment in a clean and organized manner
  • Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues
  • Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality, recipes, and service cycle
  • Prepares foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Adheres to food presentation and garnish guidelines
  • Handles, stores, labels, and rotates food according to health, safety, and legal requirements
  • Uses knives, utensils, and equipment to prepare food items
  • Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and uses courteous manners with guests
  • Notifies manager on duty when guests are unsatisfied or accidents occur
  • Participates in guest special occasion celebrations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
