Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
- Previous chef or cook experience preferred
- Ability to perform cooking shows and engage with guests
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food safety standards
- Ability to follow company service and cooking procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
Job Duties
- Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
- Provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon guest inquiries
- Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
- Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units and chef carts
- Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, and kitchen equipment in a clean and organized manner
- Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues
- Complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality, recipes, and service cycle
- Prepares foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
- Adheres to food presentation and garnish guidelines
- Handles, stores, labels, and rotates food according to health, safety, and legal requirements
- Uses knives, utensils, and equipment to prepare food items
- Adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Presents a clean and neat appearance and uses courteous manners with guests
- Notifies manager on duty when guests are unsatisfied or accidents occur
- Participates in guest special occasion celebrations
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
