Job Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
- Ability to engage and entertain guests effectively
- Ability to maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Physical ability to stand and cook for extended periods
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

- Knowledge of teppanyaki cooking techniques
- Strong guest service and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties
- Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- Perform cooking shows for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction with guests
- Provide guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow instructions
- Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using kitchen equipment
- Perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
- Maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
- Comply with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, storyboards and service cycle
- Prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
- Adhere to company guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
- Handle, store, label and rotate foods properly following public health safety and laws
- Use knives, hand tools and equipment to portion, cut, slice, julienne, whip, beat, maintain temperature or otherwise prepare food
- Adhere to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Present a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manner with guests
- Notify manager on duty immediately when guests are not satisfied or if accidents occur
- Participate in guest special occasion celebrations and may be asked to photograph with guests
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
