Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Successful completion of Benihana chef training program
- Prior experience in a culinary role preferred
- Ability to engage with guests and provide entertainment
- Physical stamina to stand and cook for extended periods
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
- Compliance with food safety standards
Job Qualifications
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic knife skills and food preparation techniques
Job Duties
- Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
- Provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are cooked or upon inquiry
- Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables using kitchen equipment
- Performs shift opening and closing duties including cleaning and maintenance
- Maintains kitchen and cooking areas clean, sanitary, and organized
- Prepares foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications
- Adheres to proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures
- Presents food with proper garnishes and complies with quality standards
- Uses knives and kitchen tools to portion, cut, and prepare food
- Follows company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Presents a clean and neat appearance and maintains courteous manner with guests
- Notifies management of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
- Participates in guest special occasion celebrations
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors
