Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass Benihana chef training program
  • Previous experience as a chef or cook preferred

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiries
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preferences and follows instructions
  • Prepares various meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other items using kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning equipment and floors
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cooking areas
  • Ensures compliance with food portioning, cooking methods, recipes, and presentation standards
  • Handles, stores, labels, and rotates foods in compliance with health and safety laws
  • Uses knives and kitchen tools to prepare food for dining room
  • Adheres to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Maintains a neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
  • Notifies manager on duty of guest dissatisfaction or accidents
  • Participates in special occasion celebrations and may photograph guests
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
