Job Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of six months previous work experience at a tennis center or facility
  • Possess a current and valid driver’s license
  • Must be insurable
  • Ability to work non-standard or extended work hours
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Ability to pass an initial drug screen

  • Knowledge of city rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to explain tennis rules
  • Ability to maintain and care for tennis courts
  • Ability to perform basic supervisory functions
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and software
  • Ability to maintain professionalism
  • Ability to handle and account for money
  • Ability to use a multiline telephone and two-way radio
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

Job Duties

  • Answers calls and responds to requests
  • Assists with marketing of tennis facility, programs, tournaments, and events including flyer development, social media posts, and word of mouth advertisements
  • Takes reservations and schedules use of courts
  • Inspects and assesses courts for condition, damages or repairs
  • Maintains and cares for all courts including clay, hard, and sand courts
  • Brushes, sprays, sweeps, pressure washes and cares for hard courts
  • Scrapes and removes algae, brushes, and blows clay courts
  • Replaces and repairs tennis nets
  • Cleans and refills coolers
  • Sets up water stations
  • Assembles and maintains tennis equipment
  • Maintains the bends
  • Removes old clay and applies fresh clay to courts
  • Assists with facility maintenance to ensure a clean and safe environment
  • Picks up trash following events and cleans facilities
  • Schedules and plans tennis instruction for all ages and skill levels
  • Assists with organization of tennis programs, lessons, leagues, tournaments, clinics, and camps
  • Sets up and registers participants for events
  • Schedules private lessons
  • Sets up chairs, water coolers, first aid stations, benches, and practice equipment
  • Administers and enforces tennis court rules, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains records of lessons and clinics and reports to Parks and Recreation Director
  • Updates calendar of events
  • Handles customer service in the Tennis Pro Shop including racquet repairs, purchasing, transactions, and inventory
  • Assists with ordering and receiving merchandise and supplies
