Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
- one year of custodial experience that included minor building and equipment maintenance
- valid California driver’s license
- ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance program
- forklift certification within three months of hire
- aerial lift certification within six months of hire
- physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds unaided or 100 pounds with assistance
- availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- willingness to work at various district locations and adjust to schedule changes
- ability to use computers and standard business software
- strong oral and written communication skills
- commitment to safety policies and practices
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
- one year of custodial experience that included minor building and equipment maintenance
- ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment common to maintenance and repair trades
- knowledge of repair methods, materials and equipment involved in maintenance of buildings and facilities including plumbing, carpentry and electrical work
- basic computer operations
- ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- sensitivity to equity and culturally responsive service-oriented practices
- forklift certification within three months of hire
- aerial lift certification within six months of hire
Job Duties
- Sets up and tears down classrooms, rooms, facilities and outdoor spaces for special events, meetings and regular classroom usage
- moves furniture and equipment
- performs basic plumbing, painting and electrical work
- makes repairs to furniture as necessary
- picks up and delivers custodial-related materials
- cleans, sanitizes and restocks restrooms
- repairs dispensers and other fixtures
- maintains floors and carpets including stripping, waxing and polishing floors and shampooing carpets
- provides a variety of general maintenance to campus facilities
- power washes sidewalks and other hardscapes as needed to maintain clean, safe and orderly conditions
- empties trash cans and assists with recycling program
- maintains and replenishes inventories of cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment
- repairs, maintains and requests replacement of equipment as needed
- makes oral and written reports for work performed
- completes and submits work orders and timesheets on a timely basis
- attends meetings
- participates in safety training
- demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of historically minoritized groups and participates in professional development activities to increase cultural competency to enhance equity-minded practices within the District
- operates a forklift, boom lift and scissor lift when needed to accomplish assigned tasks
- performs related duties as assigned
