Job Requirements

  • BLS certification required by completion of core orientation

Job Duties

  • Monitor rhythms
  • Set alarm parameters as directed by nurse or physician
  • Perform arrhythmia analysis
  • Document cardiac rhythm strips and rhythm changes
  • Communicate with nursing units regarding changes in patient telemetry status
  • Initiate, discontinue, and troubleshoot telemetry on patients
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs and file print-outs every shift
  • Monitor battery life on equipment and change as needed
  • Apply continuous pulse oximetry monitors and document related events
  • Communicate pulse ox status to Respiratory Therapist
  • Act as concierge to visitors providing direction and assistance
  • Assist with collection of patient data to ensure quality and safety
  • Attend required in-service programs, meetings and seminars
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, codes of ethics and policies
  • Maintain unsupervised access to medication rooms for stocking and retrieving supplies
  • Maintain a safe workplace free of hazards
  • Use correct body mechanics and personal protective equipment
  • Perform related duties as assigned
