Job Requirements
- Must have bachelor of science degree in dairy science, microbiology, food science, chemistry or related field or minimum 5 years relevant dairy laboratory testing experience
- ability to work in a quick and efficient manner
- must be able to read and understand company rules and GMPs
- ability to work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures
- must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Limited Samplers and Weigher's license and Charm Test certification
- must adhere to safety precautions including use of personal protective equipment
- ability to maintain confidentiality of results
- ability to operate computers for data entry
- flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- capability to perform physical demands including lifting up to 55 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, working in varying temperatures
- strong communication skills in English
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or related field or minimum 5 years relevant experience in dairy laboratory testing
- ability to work quickly and efficiently
- strong knowledge of GMPs and safety procedures
- excellent interpersonal skills to work well with others
- good judgment in carrying out assigned duties
- ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- experience with microbiological and analytical testing
- ability to understand and follow company rules and safety regulations
Job Duties
- Perform analytical testing including moisture, fat, pH, total solids, titratable acidity, salt, electrical conductivity, antibiotic screening
- conduct bacteriological tests such as total plate count, yeast and mold, coliform, environmental and air monitoring
- perform confirmation testing on antibiotic residues
- set up, operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment
- prepare all solutions and media required for testing
- communicate test results in a timely and confidential manner
- maintain a clean and organized work area
- assist in training new laboratory personnel
- adhere to safety protocols including use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals
- support and enforce SQF, QA, GMP, and safety policies
- perform rechecks and notify supervisors of unusual results
- maintain confidentiality of all results and reports
- comply with company policies including Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety rules
- complete all work timely and accurately
