Job Requirements

  • Must have bachelor of science degree in dairy science, microbiology, food science, chemistry or related field or minimum 5 years relevant dairy laboratory testing experience
  • ability to work in a quick and efficient manner
  • must be able to read and understand company rules and GMPs
  • ability to work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures
  • must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Limited Samplers and Weigher's license and Charm Test certification
  • must adhere to safety precautions including use of personal protective equipment
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of results
  • ability to operate computers for data entry
  • flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • capability to perform physical demands including lifting up to 55 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, working in varying temperatures
  • strong communication skills in English

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or related field or minimum 5 years relevant experience in dairy laboratory testing
  • ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • strong knowledge of GMPs and safety procedures
  • excellent interpersonal skills to work well with others
  • good judgment in carrying out assigned duties
  • ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • experience with microbiological and analytical testing
  • ability to understand and follow company rules and safety regulations

Job Duties

  • Perform analytical testing including moisture, fat, pH, total solids, titratable acidity, salt, electrical conductivity, antibiotic screening
  • conduct bacteriological tests such as total plate count, yeast and mold, coliform, environmental and air monitoring
  • perform confirmation testing on antibiotic residues
  • set up, operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment
  • prepare all solutions and media required for testing
  • communicate test results in a timely and confidential manner
  • maintain a clean and organized work area
  • assist in training new laboratory personnel
  • adhere to safety protocols including use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals
  • support and enforce SQF, QA, GMP, and safety policies
  • perform rechecks and notify supervisors of unusual results
  • maintain confidentiality of all results and reports
  • comply with company policies including Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety rules
  • complete all work timely and accurately
