Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two or more years experience in heavy diesel vehicle maintenance preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license
  • Ability to secure proper airport authority security badges
  • Knowledge of theories of systems operation
  • Valid ASE certification or other diesel certification preferred

  • Ability to learn electrical and hydraulic schematics

Job Duties

  • Inspect service troubleshoot repair replace and overhaul ground support equipment and components such as chassis body and drive-train components
  • Learn electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance such as oil changes replacing or adding coolant and fluids brake and tire changes on ground equipment
  • Perform minor repair of ground support equipment such as carburetors starter motors alternators batteries radiators hydraulic drive components and diesel engines under supervision
  • Assist with transporting parts distributing parts to technicians inputting parts into system and properly storing parts and assisting with parts inventory counts
  • Assist with offloading equipment and freight
  • Escort contractors and vehicles in or out of SCLA airport as needed
  • Perform yard starts and equipment availability reporting
  • Assist with shop maintenance including light building maintenance and maintaining shop tools washing equipment
  • Operate a motor vehicle safely and legally
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in an effective safe working condition and report any safety violations or improper work to supervisor or lead
  • Comply with federal local and state regulations Mercury GSE policies and health safety and environmental procedures
  • Keep work area clean and free of safety hazards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
