Job Requirements

  • High school level education
  • One to two years of on-the-job experience
  • Supervisory experience with a small team
  • Basic numerical calculation ability
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license as per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, and bending
  • Capability to frequently lift heavy items
  • Willingness to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and exposure to hospital odors

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of relevant experience in environmental services or laundry operations
  • Supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of department functions and ability to assess needs and set priorities
  • Knowledge of personal computers and related software
  • Ability to manage employee performance and attendance records
  • Ability to conduct quality control inspections
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Assist with training and orientation of new employees
  • Provide functional guidelines and supervise daily activities of aides
  • Counsel, discipline verbally, and suspend employees as necessary
  • Prepare daily payroll, vacation and holiday schedules
  • Complete employee performance evaluations and maintain attendance reports and control sheets
  • Fill in for housekeeping and laundry supervisors during absences
  • Maintain supply levels and notify appropriate personnel for requisitions
  • Perform quality control inspections and patient interviews
  • Check quality of linen processing and ensure safe and timely employee performance
  • Operate washers and dryers, refinish floors, shampoo carpets
  • Clean hospital areas
  • Rotate and perform duties at other AMC sites as needed
  • Perform all duties in alignment with safety and departmental policies
