Job Requirements
- Completion of an approved educator preparation program
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate or equivalent state/national licensure
- Option I: Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant full-time experience or Option II: Associate degree and 2+ years relevant experience or Option III: High school diploma/GED with 5+ years relevant experience
- Satisfactory fingerprint background check
- Knowledge of Culinary Arts and commercial kitchen operations
- Ability to manage kitchen lab and supervise students
- Ability to work with special education and ESL students
- Competence with technology and industry software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements or current licensure from a recognized accrediting agency
- Completion of an approved educator preparation program
- Knowledge and skills in Culinary Arts programs including commercial kitchen equipment and culinary budgeting
- Ability to align curriculum with industry certification exams
- Experience with project-based learning
- Strong organizational, marketing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse situations in a school environment
- Ability to promote the Culinary Arts program within the educational and business community
Job Duties
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district curriculum requirements and accommodate learning styles
- Present content in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines and board policies
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals and methods
- Work with special education and ESL teachers to modify curriculum and support diverse learners
- Use technology and industry-related software to enhance instruction
- Administer safety exams for kitchen equipment use
- Conduct ongoing assessments and analyze performance data to tailor instruction
- Provide dual credit opportunities and administer industry certification exams
- Establish partnerships with industry professionals for job shadowing and internships
- Manage culinary lab, equipment, and enforce sanitation and safety standards
- Supervise students and monitor workflow of instructional assistants
- Promote the Culinary Arts program to students, staff, parents, and the community
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
