Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of experience in event planning, coordination, and management
  • Work experience in contract and vendor oversight
  • Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Internal candidates must meet or exceed performance expectations with a minimum evaluation score of 3.5
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 35 percent of the time
  • Must work on-site during agency core hours
  • No telework available

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in planning, coordinating, overseeing, and managing special events and conferences
  • Experience in contract and vendor oversight
  • Knowledge of event planning registration software is preferred
  • Experience creating original exhibit designs and event concepts is preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze program performance metrics
  • Proficient computer and software skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement assigned Food and Nutrition conferences, special events, exhibits including identifying required resources and ensuring project schedules are completed within agreed-upon time frames
  • Manage and track the budget for Food and Nutrition special events, conferences, and exhibits
  • Oversee the development and implementation of contracts including identifying needs, describing services to be rendered, evaluating bids, approving invoices, maintaining contract documentation, ensuring vendor accountability, and escalating performance concerns
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of conferences and special events related to staffing, communication, logistics, graphics, and print activities, supporting staffing plans and working with managers to implement
  • Create and implement evaluation methods and metrics related to events and exhibits, analyze feedback, and recommend actions that improve the effectiveness and impact of special events on Food and Nutrition programs
  • Communicate appropriate event unit updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate the development of concepts and designs for displays for special events, educational opportunities, and exhibits
