Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive culinary or kitchen experience depending on formal degree
  • Extensive catering experience
  • Hands-on cooking experience
  • Experience in high volume, complex food service operations preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation
  • Must be willing to participate in client satisfaction activities
  • Flexible to work long hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to travel to other NYC Convene properties

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive culinary or kitchen experience depending on formal training
  • Extensive catering experience
  • Experience in high volume, complex food service operations desirable
  • Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking is a plus
  • Hands-on cooking expertise
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost control, and presentation
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • Flexible and able to work long hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Physical ability to reach overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling, stooping
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to travel to multiple Convene properties in NYC

Job Duties

  • Maintain full knowledge of menus, recipes, and relevant information for event execution according to Convene's Perfect Plates philosophy
  • Participate professionally in daily food service demonstrating excellence in portioning, cooking, timing, plate assembly, and communication
  • Prepare, cook, and serve items adhering to recipes while ensuring high-quality food presentation
  • Prepare and deliver catering orders for meetings and events with precision and punctuality
  • Assist other associates to complete kitchen duties within time constraints
  • Ensure all steps of service are followed per Convene standards
  • Maintain constant sanitation, organization, and proper food handling
  • Assist in onboarding new culinary team members
  • Support the opening process of new venues when required
  • Follow culinary standard operating procedures
  • Provide task force property support by filling vacancies as needed
