- Familiarity with hospital communication protocols preferred
Job Duties
- Receive all incoming calls to the hospital
- Perform in-house paging, codes and dial-a-page system
- Keep switchboard files updated with current room numbers, discharged patients, new admissions
- Maintain updated employee information for disaster procedure files
- Receive incoming calls to house extensions or patient rooms
- Receive calls from in-house extensions
- Handle all emergency calls and pages
- Contact appropriate personnel as situation warrants
- Handle all intercom paging and general information from in-house and outside calling parties
- Contact on-call personnel as requested by Nursing Supervisor during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Take and relay messages to on-call persons by paging, beeping or calling their home
- Keep pertinent information on the bulletin board and disaster policies updated
- Stay abreast of changes related to switchboard functions
- Perform other duties as assigned
