Job Qualifications

Familiarity with hospital communication protocols preferred

Job Duties

Receive all incoming calls to the hospital
Perform in-house paging, codes and dial-a-page system
Keep switchboard files updated with current room numbers, discharged patients, new admissions
Maintain updated employee information for disaster procedure files
Receive incoming calls to house extensions or patient rooms
Receive calls from in-house extensions
Handle all emergency calls and pages
Contact appropriate personnel as situation warrants
Handle all intercom paging and general information from in-house and outside calling parties
Contact on-call personnel as requested by Nursing Supervisor during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Take and relay messages to on-call persons by paging, beeping or calling their home
Keep pertinent information on the bulletin board and disaster policies updated
Stay abreast of changes related to switchboard functions
Perform other duties as assigned
