Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • food service experience preferred
  • must be able to safely operate standard commercial kitchen equipment
  • valid driver’s license preferred
  • ability to work collaboratively with vulnerable populations and SVDP staff
  • respect and support of the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul
  • must be able to lift fifty pounds
  • ability to stand for long periods and stoop and bend frequently
  • ability to navigate and move around buildings on campus
  • willingness to work in a dining room environment with variable temperatures
  • ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced, high accountability setting
  • availability to work occasional events or weekend hours as needed

Job Duties

  • Pull and put items on the table for bags to be made
  • ensure volunteers making the bags have enough supplies, providing additional supplies as needed
  • monitor trash from creating the bags, cleaning up as it occurs
  • welcome, interact, support, and thank volunteers who assist with the Brown Bag Program
  • accept food deliveries and thank donors
  • retrieve delivery items, sort, weigh, label, date and place items in proper storage area
  • set up tables and chairs for service
  • pull items from freezer for following week’s menu under the direction of the Kitchen Manager
  • keep floors free of any food or liquid at all times
  • put out wet floor sign when mopping spills
  • monitor and empty trash cans in dining room and bathrooms throughout shift
  • take full dumpsters to outside bins and ensure trash bins are locked
  • clean all bathrooms and restock supplies
  • clean and wipe tables and chairs
  • pick up chairs after lunch service
  • sweep and mop dining room and bathrooms
  • wipe down window seals and clean as directed
  • welcome, interact, support and thank volunteers, community members, donors, guests and staff
  • drive as directed and approved by Director of Food Services
  • perform other duties as assigned
