Job Requirements
- Previous experience as a sushi cook or sushi chef
- Knowledge of sushi preparation techniques
- Ability to handle and portion seafood safely
- Understanding of sushi presentation and plating standards
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work station
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- A genuine love for culinary experiences and passion for Japanese cuisine
- Previous experience as a Sushi Cook or Sushi Chef in a high-volume restaurant environment or sushi bar
- Proficiency in sushi preparation techniques including knife skills, seafood handling, and sushi rolling
- Knowledge of different types of fish, seafood, and sushi ingredients as well as sushi terminology and presentation styles
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Prepare sushi and sashimi dishes according to established recipes and plating standards
- Handle and portion seafood including slicing, filleting, and cutting fish for sushi and sashimi
- Ensure the freshness, quality, and proper storage of all seafood and ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Follow recipes and plating guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy in sushi preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station including equipment, tools, and work surfaces
