Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience as a sushi cook
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques including knife skills and fish butchery
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Creativity and passion for sushi
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to fostering a supportive kitchen environment
- Willingness to learn and accept feedback
- Certification(s) for food safety is a bonus
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends
- Legal authorization to work in the USA
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience as a sushi cook in a high-volume, high-quality sushi restaurant
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including knife skills, fish butchery, rice preparation, and plating
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, particularly with raw fish and seafood
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards
- Creativity and passion for sushi with a commitment to continuous learning and innovation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging experience for your team members and guests
- A willingness to learn and an openness to feedback, coaching, and mentorship
- Certification(s) to responsibly work in and create a safe and clean environment for food production and consumption (ie: State Specific Food Handlers Card) is a bonus
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- The ability to legally work in the USA
Job Duties
- Develop your culinary skills and create food you’re proud of, whether you’re new to the kitchen or experienced
- Uphold Earls’ standards through exceptional food production, ensuring consistent quality control and safety
- Foster team collaboration by contributing to a connected and committed kitchen environment
- Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety of your station, maintaining high kitchen standards
- Express your passion for hospitality through excellent execution, product knowledge, and a commitment to the guest experience
- Prepare high-quality sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, rolls, and specialty items, ensuring top-tier presentation and taste
- Manage the sushi station, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to health and safety standards
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to refine menu offerings and introduce new ideas
- Monitor sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as needed
