Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 to 4 years of work experience in grocery or retail preferred
  • Previous experience in retail or restaurant environment preferred
  • Possession of a food handling license
  • Ability to work various shifts based on business needs
  • Ability to operate department equipment safely
  • Ability to stand for long periods and withstand cold working conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to use in-store computer and scanning equipment
  • Ability to handle and prepare sushi safely and according to company standards
  • Compliance with health and OSHA regulations
  • Physical ability to lift and carry weights as described
  • Willingness to learn new methods and adapt to changes

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 to 4 years work experience in grocery or retail preferred
  • Experience in retail or restaurant environment preferred
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and regulations
  • Food handling license
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to work with all levels of management

Job Duties

  • Assist the manager in meeting sales and profit projections through sushi preparation and adherence to company policies
  • Work various shifts or days based on business needs
  • Ensure sushi is prepared, handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised properly
  • Safely operate department equipment including knives and sushi tools
  • Maintain knife grip to cut fish or seafood to specifications
  • Withstand working environment temperatures of 40 degrees Fahrenheit or more
  • Meet productivity standards as set by the company
  • Use in-store computer system and scanning equipment
  • Weigh, price, label, organize and rotate sushi products per company standards
  • Assist customers with special requests and questions
  • Support promotional activities within the store and department
  • Maintain good communication with management, associates and outside contacts
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager
