Job Requirements

  • 3 or more years experience in the hospitality industry
  • Experience in notable sushi restaurants preferred
  • Knowledge of sake preferred but not required
  • Capability to perform Japanese fish butchery
  • Experience in fine dining restaurants
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years hospitality industry experience
  • Experience in upscale sushi or fine dining restaurants preferred
  • Knowledge of Japanese fish butchery and cuisine preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and guest interaction skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn for apprentices
  • Attention to professional grooming and appearance

Job Duties

  • Prepare nigiri and perform traditional edomae sushi techniques
  • Butcher and handle various Japanese fish such as kohada, sanma, and sayori
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment
  • Interact directly with guests at the sushi counter providing polished and professional service
  • Collaborate effectively within a small team in an open kitchen setting
  • Uphold high standards of personal grooming and professional appearance
  • Manage kitchen tasks efficiently during dinner service
