Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to handle sharp objects safely
  • Ability to work in cold or hot environments
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior sushi preparation experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience as sushi chef or extensive sushi preparation experience
  • Excellent knife skills
  • Knowledge of fish and seafood handling
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • Artistic plating skills
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Sushi preparation including selecting and cutting fish and seafood
  • Cooking and preparing sushi rice
  • Preparing sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to standards
  • Plating sushi and dishes in an artistic manner
  • Maintaining cleanliness of sushi preparation stations and equipment
  • Following food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Monitoring inventory levels and notifying management
  • Interacting with guests and providing recommendations
  • Accommodating special dietary requests
  • Assisting in training new staff
  • Participating in menu development
  • Performing other duties as assigned
