Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • food safety training through Hy-Vee
  • food safety certified
  • one to three years of related work experience
  • able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly
  • able to perform physical activities including balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • able to see at varied distances with or without correction
  • willing to comply with pre-employment drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • food safety certification
  • one to three years of related work experience
  • prior experience in meal preparation preferred
  • ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems with abstract and concrete variables
  • ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • possess the ability to compose correspondence and follow technical manuals
  • strong communication skills to interact with customers and provide guidance

Job Duties

  • Prepares fresh sushi for customers both packaged and made-to-order
  • provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
  • smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner throughout the store
  • makes an effort to learn customers' names and address them personally
  • answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service including taking product orders
  • assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy goods, noting customer suggestions and enhancing the shopping experience
  • works with co-workers as a team and provides training to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • understands and practices proper sanitation procedures ensuring the work area is clean and neat
  • involved in schedules and overseeing food ordering and planning
  • communicates with customers via phone, in person or email regarding food and preparation
  • aids in merchandising techniques and food layout
  • attends company and industry meetings as assigned
  • adheres to company policies and store guidelines
  • reports to work when scheduled and on time
  • plans and performs fresh sushi demonstrations
  • stays current on meal trends and menu planning
  • performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
