Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • food safety certification
  • one to three years of similar or related work experience
  • prior experience in meal preparation preferred
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly
  • ability to perform physical activities including balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • capable of vision and color recognition
  • able to work in fast-paced environment with exposure to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals
  • successful completion of pre-employment drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hy-Vee food safety training
  • food safety certified
  • one to three years of related work experience
  • prior meal preparation experience preferred
  • ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • ability to solve problems with abstract and concrete variables
  • good communication skills
  • ability to follow technical manuals
  • customer service experience

Job Duties

  • Prepares fresh sushi for customers both packaged and made-to-order
  • provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience
  • smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner
  • makes an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name
  • answers telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
  • assists customers with product location, securing items, loading and unloading
  • works with co-workers as a team and provides training
  • understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures work area cleanliness
  • involved in scheduling and overseeing food ordering and planning
  • communicates with customers regarding food and preparation
  • aids in merchandising sushi foods and food layout
  • attends company and industry meetings
  • adheres to company policies and guidelines
  • reports to work on time as scheduled
