Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of technical or vocational school
  • Basic Life Support - CPR certification (BLS)
  • Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)
  • Ability to work part-time during the day shift
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining aseptic technique

Job Duties

  • Supports the surgeon and/or qualified first assistant during procedures by performing tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera
  • Monitors conditions in the operating room, assesses needs of the patient and surgical team, and obtains additional instruments, supplies, and equipment as necessary
  • Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment, providing orientation, training, and education to new personnel
  • Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies
  • Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, ensuring all items are functional and readily available
  • Maintains strict aseptic technique, performs surgical hand scrub, dons gown and gloves, and sets up sterile field and drapes for procedures
  • Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization, performing point-of-use cleaning throughout procedures
