Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • ability to bend, stoop and stretch regularly
  • capability to work day shift from 6:30am to 3:00pm
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • must be able to read, write and speak English

  • must interact positively with coworkers
  • willing to work rotating weekends and holidays
  • must perform additional duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in a healthcare or similar environment preferred
  • knowledge of common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes and scouring pads
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • strong commitment to safety for patients, visitors and staff
  • excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with coworkers across departments
  • ability to read, write and speak English effectively
  • mechanical aptitude to operate cleaning machines and equipment
  • ability to work rotating weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
  • vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
  • empty, clean and re-line waste baskets
  • transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas
  • wash and disinfect the bed/crib at discharge and prepare the bed for the new occupant
  • follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
  • clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
  • notify supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low
  • report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas
  • maintain tools and equipment in good condition and be responsible for economical use of supplies
  • operate machines and equipment for floor maintenance, including stripping, refinishing, burnishing and shampooing carpets
  • deliver clean linen throughout the facility
  • attend in-service, required meetings and other educational programs to enhance professional growth and development
