Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in a healthcare or similar environment preferred
- knowledge of common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes and scouring pads
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- strong commitment to safety for patients, visitors and staff
- excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with coworkers across departments
- ability to read, write and speak English effectively
- mechanical aptitude to operate cleaning machines and equipment
- ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
- vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
- empty, clean and re-line waste baskets
- transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas
- wash and disinfect the bed/crib at discharge and prepare the bed for the new occupant
- follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
- clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
- notify supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low
- report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas
- maintain tools and equipment in good condition and be responsible for economical use of supplies
- operate machines and equipment for floor maintenance, including stripping, refinishing, burnishing and shampooing carpets
- deliver clean linen throughout the facility
- attend in-service, required meetings and other educational programs to enhance professional growth and development
