Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to bend, stoop and stretch
- Must know how to use common housekeeping implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads
- Must be able to follow oral or written instructions
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Ability to work the evening shift from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm
- Must interact positively with coworkers
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned
- Must work with constant concern for the safety of all people (patient, visitor etc.)
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Good mechanical aptitude to operate cleaning equipment
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to work cooperatively with team members across departments
- Commitment to workplace safety and infection control protocols
Job Duties
- Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
- Vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
- Empty, clean and re-line waste baskets
- Transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas
- Wash and disinfect the bed/crib at discharge and prepare the bed for the new occupant
- Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
- Clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
