Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- must be able to bend, stoop and stretch
- must know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads
- ability to follow oral or written instructions
- work with constant concern for the safety of all persons (patient, visitor etc.)
- interact in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments
- must be able to read, write and speak English
- perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- basic mechanical aptitude
- physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Duties
- Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
- vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
- empty, clean and re-line waste baskets
- transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas
- wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare bed for new occupant
- follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
- clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
- notify supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low
- report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas
- maintain tools and equipment in good condition, be responsible for economical use of supplies
- operate machines and equipment including hard floor surface maintenance such as striping, refinishing, burnishing and shampooing carpets
- deliver clean linen throughout the facility
- attend in-services required meetings and other educational programs to enhance professional growth and development
