Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • must be able to bend, stoop and stretch
  • must know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads
  • ability to follow oral or written instructions
  • work with constant concern for the safety of all persons (patient, visitor etc.)
  • interact in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments
  • must be able to read, write and speak English
  • perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • basic mechanical aptitude
  • physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • commitment to safety and teamwork

Job Duties

  • Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
  • vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
  • empty, clean and re-line waste baskets
  • transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas
  • wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare bed for new occupant
  • follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
  • clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
  • notify supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low
  • report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas
  • maintain tools and equipment in good condition, be responsible for economical use of supplies
  • operate machines and equipment including hard floor surface maintenance such as striping, refinishing, burnishing and shampooing carpets
  • deliver clean linen throughout the facility
  • attend in-services required meetings and other educational programs to enhance professional growth and development
