The Fitness Division within the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of life of Navy personnel and their families through a wide range of recreational and fitness programs. Job Requirements

  • Must provide copy of college transcripts showing degree
  • Three years specialized experience in any sports or aquatics-related field or equivalent education
  • Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • Must be suitable for federal employment
  • May be required to complete a probationary period
  • Required to participate in direct deposit pay program
  • Social Security card is required
  • Must satisfactorily complete employment verification check (E-VERIFY)
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable background check
  • Compliance with REAL ID or passport requirements for government facility access

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in general recreation or related field
  • Three years specialized experience in sports or aquatics-related field
  • Knowledge of Navy MWR program policies and objectives
  • Ability to interpret and promote the MWR program
  • Skills in dispute resolution and conflict management
  • Familiarity with affirmative action and equal employment opportunity programs
  • Experience in personnel management including recruitment, training and development
  • Strong planning and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of budget planning and implementation

Job Duties

  • Oversee management and supervision of MWR sports and aquatics programs
  • Develop and implement sports leagues, competitions and aquatic instructional activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and MWR policies
  • Plan and manage program budgets and resources
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop program staff
  • Promote recreational programs through media, events, and public appearances
  • Resolve conflicts during sporting events using current rules and approved guidelines
