Job Requirements
- Knowledge of a wide range of recreation and sports activities
- Familiarity with military unit organization and installation sports programs
- Basic understanding of budget and supply functions
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English
- Relevant experience or education related to recreation duties
- Minimum three years general experience with at least one year at GS-04 level or equivalent
- Ability to lead and train other employees
- Capability to plan and execute special events
- Skilled in using RecTrac and FMWR financial reporting systems preferred
- Experience managing large events with over 50 patrons preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Job Qualifications
- Resumes must be two pages or less
- Must have knowledge of a wide range of recreation and sports activities
- Experience in organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures
- Basic understanding of budget and supply functions
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
- Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed
- Minimum of three years of general work experience with at least one year comparable to the GS-04 grade level
- Experience in assisting patrons, planning events, leading work of other employees, and providing program oversight
- Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation and parks, recreation management, youth, public, urban, or community recreation, or recreation for special populations is preferred but not required
- Proficiency with RecTrac and FMWR financial reporting such as Daily Activity Reports is highly preferred
- Experience in providing oversight, planning and executing events for 50+ patrons is highly preferred
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word and Excel is highly preferred
Job Duties
- Assist patrons in use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instructions, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes
- Plan, conduct, publicize and arrange support for special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions
- Lead the work of other employees
- Pass on instructions received from the supervisor and start work
- Distribute and balance workload assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy
- Answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, and directives
- Provide leadership, guidance and oversight in program operations
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees
