Job Requirements

- Subject to Child Care Tier 1 background investigation and satisfactory pre-employment checks per AR 215-3, para 2

- Must have current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations including annual influenza vaccination per Army and DoD policy
- Satisfactory job performance, successful completion of training, and demonstrated on-the-job competency
- Ability to travel to on and off post locations
- May be subject to irregular hours including evening and weekend shifts

Job Qualifications
- Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 semester hours in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, youth development, youth administration, or other related fields appropriate to the position
- OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above with appropriate coursework and related practical experience
- Experience supervising or leading caregivers within child/youth facility-based programs
- Experience managing a classroom setting in child and youth programs
- Experience implementing and overseeing structured child and youth program curricula
- Demonstrated verbal communication skills through training, presentations, meetings with parents and staff, or similar
Job Duties
- Serve as a CYS supervisory program specialist with responsibility for supervising direct care staff maintaining required child-to-adult ratios
- Prepare work schedules to meet ratio and group size requirements, provide program oversight and accountability
- Monitor and analyze adult/participant ratio sheets to ensure proper staffing and supervision at all times
- Assist with recruitment and selection of caregiving staff using Army CYS standard position descriptions
- Supervise and evaluate employees based on established performance standards and ensure timely submission of personnel actions
- Assist directors and training specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth
- Act as Assistant Director or Director in their absence up to 20% of the time and provide management oversight during evening or weekend openings as needed
