Job Description

The Child Development Center at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, operates under the auspices of the Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program, specifically within the Child and Youth Services (CYS). This center provides essential childcare services designed to support military families and civilian personnel stationed at or associated with Fort Sill. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required
  • Meet qualification, eligibility, physical, and background checks
  • Current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health and immunizations including influenza vaccination
  • May require one year probationary period
  • Travel to on and off post locations required
  • May be subject to irregular hours, evenings, and weekends
  • Satisfactory completion of E-Verify employment verification
  • Subject to background checks including Child Care Tier 1 investigation
  • Compliance with Crime Control Act
  • Satisfactory performance and completion of required training

Job Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 semester hours in child development, early childhood education, home economics with early childhood emphasis, elementary education, special education, or related behavioral science
  • OR a combination of related education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience supervising or leading caregivers in child/youth facility-based programs
  • Experience managing classroom settings within child and youth programs
  • Experience implementing and overseeing structured child and youth program curriculums
  • Demonstrated verbal communication skills through training, presentations, or meetings
  • Highly preferred candidates have experience with childcare or youth program national accreditation, participating in multi-disciplinary inspections, and mentoring staff

Job Duties

  • Serve as a CYS Supervisory Program Specialist overseeing direct care staff
  • Prepare work schedules to meet ratio and group size requirements
  • Provide program oversight and monitor adult to participant ratios
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, and evaluation of caregiving staff
  • Ensure timely submission of personnel actions
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement activities and special events
  • Act as Assistant Director or Director during absences and provide management oversight for additional facilities
