Job Description

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operates as a critical federal agency responsible for safeguarding the United States from a variety of threats and ensuring the security of the nation's borders, trade, and infrastructure. Within DHS, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) plays a pivotal role by regulating and facilitating international trade, travel, and enforcing customs laws to protect the country’s economic and national security interests. Job Requirements

  • Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position
  • Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements by 12/09/2025
  • Undergo a thorough background investigation
  • Fulfill residency requirement of physical residence in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years or meet criteria for residency waiver
  • Serve a one-year probationary period if new to federal employment

Job Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level
  • Experience managing and assessing program deliverables in trade policy areas
  • Experience serving as a program lead in inter-agency settings
  • Ability to recommend and implement policy solutions
  • Strong evaluation skills regarding legislative and regulatory impacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills suited for senior leadership and stakeholders

Job Duties

  • Manage and assess deliverables to meet program needs and compliance with Office of Trade policy
  • Serve as a program lead representing program priorities at CBP, DHS, and inter-agency events
  • Recommend and implement solutions to challenges related to policy development and trade law enforcement
  • Evaluate impact of legislative and regulatory changes on long-range goals and objectives
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and accurate communications to senior leadership and stakeholders
