Job Requirements

  • Must meet OPM Qualifications Standards for the applicable 1825 Aviation Safety Series
  • possess valid FAA rating(s) and/or certificate(s) required for specialty
  • have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-J or GS-14 level
  • submit copies of rating(s) and/or certificate(s) unless currently or previously employed in a relevant FAA 1825 Series position
  • possess or waiver of valid second-class FAA medical certificate if applicable
  • demonstrate ability to monitor and evaluate compliance with aviation regulations
  • meet deadline for qualification requirements by closing date

Job Qualifications

  • Meet Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Standards for the 1825 Aviation Safety Series or related specialties
  • possess valid rating(s) and/or certificate(s) in one or more FAA-recognized specialties
  • demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-J or GS-14 level
  • experience in monitoring and evaluating training programs for compliance with regulations
  • strong leadership and management experience
  • ability to work collaboratively within a federal agency environment

Job Duties

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing aviation safety and compliance programs
  • monitor and evaluate aviation training programs for regulatory compliance
  • provide leadership and guidance to aviation safety inspectors and staff
  • ensure adherence to FAA policies and procedures
  • coordinate with other aviation safety entities and stakeholders
  • review and analyze safety data and reports
  • support the development and implementation of safety standards and best practices
