Job Requirements

  • US citizenship is required
  • Selective service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Must submit an SF50
  • Designated or random drug testing required
  • SF-50 must contain information in Blocks 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, and 24
  • Must complete FAA managerial workforce planning selection factors
  • Must submit FAA Form 3330-43 rating of air traffic experience
  • May be subject to background investigation
  • One-year probationary period may be required
  • May be required to file a financial disclosure statement
  • Position is covered by Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing program
  • Must meet FAA managerial workforce planning selection factors
  • Candidates must address managerial selection factors in application
  • Selection contingent upon security clearance
  • Supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required
  • Must pass medical exam and maintain medical clearance

Job Qualifications

  • Must have held a FAA 2152 FV-J or FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year
  • Or must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year at an Air Traffic Services facility
  • Or must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year in an ATS facility
  • Must meet qualifications by the closing date of the announcement
  • Must provide detailed information supporting qualifications and job questionnaire responses
  • Education cannot be substituted for experience

Job Duties

  • Serve as supervisory traffic management coordinator in an ATC-11 level terminal or en route facility
  • Provide first line supervision to a staff of traffic management coordinators
  • Ensure traffic instructions and restrictions are initiated according to established procedures to maintain safety and expeditious flow of traffic
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates and facilitate team building
  • Integrate support resources with operational needs and work non-administrative shifts as required
  • Assign and review work, plan work, set priorities, prepare schedules, approve leave, and evaluate subordinate performance
  • Resolve work problems, handle grievances and complaints, conduct disciplinary actions, and manage selections, transfers, and awards
  • Communicate and reinforce team and individual responsibility and professionalism
  • Participate in labor-management partnership processes
  • Maintain frequent contact with internal and external customers including management, staff, union representatives, and the public
  • Contribute to accomplishment of facility goals and strategic objectives
  • Report to the traffic management officer and ensure effectiveness of program objectives
