Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • high school diploma or GED or culinary school graduate
  • minimum 36 months food service experience with 12 months supervisory role
  • proficiency with kitchen utensils and equipment
  • ability to perform basic math and inventory tasks
  • effective oral and written communication skills in English
  • ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • capability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • must submit to background check
  • availability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • adherence to University of Oklahoma Tuberculosis Testing policy
  • ServSafe and Sanitation Certification may be required
  • experience with large kitchen operations preferred
  • ability to handle exposure to chemicals and temperature variations
  • physical ability to climb stairs as required
  • ability to work during emergency University closings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or graduate of culinary school
  • 36 months experience in food services including 12 months supervisory experience
  • proficiency in using kitchen tools and equipment
  • skilled in safe and sanitary food handling
  • ability to perform basic accounting and inventory tasks
  • effective communication skills in English
  • understanding of nutrition and portion control
  • commitment to Housing and Food Services core values
  • ServSafe Certification may be required
  • Sanitation Certification may be required

Job Duties

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned personnel
  • determine work priorities and plan schedules
  • prepare and serve food items following recipes and portion control standards
  • utilize various kitchen utensils and industrial equipment for food preparation
  • serve food courteously with proper portion control and menu knowledge
  • load, carry, and transport food items safely and efficiently
  • wash, sanitize, and store kitchen utensils and equipment
  • clean dishes, tables, counters, and floors
  • assist with special events and catering needs across the university
  • support other food services staff as necessary
