Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED or culinary school graduate
  • 36 months experience in food services including 12 months supervisory experience
  • Ability to safely use kitchen tools and equipment
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • ServSafe and sanitation certification may be required
  • Ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to stand walk for long periods
  • Ability to work nights weekends and emergency situations
  • Must submit to background check
  • Ability to work in varied temperature environments
  • Perseverance for fast-paced work
  • Exposure to chemicals and noxious odors
  • Climbing stairs occasionally
  • Compliance with University Tuberculosis Testing policy

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or graduate of culinary school
  • 36 months experience in food services including 12 months supervisory role
  • Proficiency in using kitchen tools and equipment
  • Skilled in safe and sanitary food handling
  • Basic math skills for inventory and portion control
  • Effective communication in English both oral and written
  • Understanding of nutrition and portion control
  • Demonstrated alignment with Housing and Food Services core values

Job Duties

  • Supervise training and evaluate assigned personnel
  • Determine work priorities and plan work schedules
  • Prepare and produce food items following recipes and portion control standards
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and industrial equipment safely and effectively
  • Serve food courteously with proper portion control and menu knowledge
  • Transport food items and carts safely and efficiently
  • Wash sanitize and store kitchen utensils and clean dining and work areas
  • Assist with special events and collaborate with food services staff
  • Maintain proper kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards
