Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • must submit to background check
  • hepatitis A vaccine required or annual testing
  • ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs
  • ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • ability to work in varying temperatures
  • ability to climb stairs as needed
  • perseverance for fast-paced duties
  • exposure to chemicals and odors
  • frequent repetitive arm and wrist movement
  • willingness to work nights and weekends
  • general supervision from Restaurant Manager

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or graduate of culinary school
  • 36 months experience in food services including 12 months supervisory experience
  • proficiency with kitchen tools and equipment
  • skilled in safe and sanitary food handling
  • basic arithmetic skills
  • ability to read and interpret written materials
  • effective communication skills in English
  • understanding of nutrition and portion control
  • commitment to Housing and Food Services core values

Job Duties

  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned personnel
  • determines work priorities and plans schedules
  • assigns and reviews work
  • handles cash properly
  • performs administrative duties related to inventory and ordering
  • works on the service line
  • prepares food following recipes and portion control standards
  • measures and combines ingredients safely
  • uses kitchen utensils and industrial equipment
  • serves food courteously with proper portions
  • transports food items safely and timely
  • loads and transports food carts
  • washes and sanitizes kitchen tools and equipment
  • cleans counters, floors, and dining areas
  • follows cleaning and sanitizing standards
  • assists with special events
  • supports other food services staff when necessary
