Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must submit to a background check
  • Hepatitis A vaccine required or annual testing
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods in a kitchen environment with temperatures ranging from 8 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to climb stairs as needed
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends
  • Exposure to chemicals and noxious odors
  • Perseverance in fast-paced, demanding work conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or graduate of culinary school
  • Minimum of 36 months experience in food services including at least 12 months in a supervisory role
  • Skilled in the use of kitchen tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of safe, sanitary food handling practices
  • Ability to perform basic math and routine accounting functions
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written
  • Understanding of nutrition and portion control
  • Commitment to Housing and Food Services core values

Job Duties

  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned personnel
  • Determines work priorities and plans schedules
  • Assigns and reviews work to ensure quality and timeliness
  • Handles proper cash management procedures
  • Manages inventory and ordering duties
  • Steps in to assist on the service line as needed
  • Ensures compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
