Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must submit to a background check
- Hepatitis A vaccine required or annual testing
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods in a kitchen environment with temperatures ranging from 8 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to climb stairs as needed
- Willingness to work nights and weekends
- Exposure to chemicals and noxious odors
- Perseverance in fast-paced, demanding work conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or graduate of culinary school
- Minimum of 36 months experience in food services including at least 12 months in a supervisory role
- Skilled in the use of kitchen tools and equipment
- Knowledge of safe, sanitary food handling practices
- Ability to perform basic math and routine accounting functions
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written
- Understanding of nutrition and portion control
- Commitment to Housing and Food Services core values
Job Duties
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned personnel
- Determines work priorities and plans schedules
- Assigns and reviews work to ensure quality and timeliness
- Handles proper cash management procedures
- Manages inventory and ordering duties
- Steps in to assist on the service line as needed
- Ensures compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
