Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- supervisory experience may be full-time or its part-time equivalent and may be acquired concurrently with or separately from experience in the maintenance and operation of a public market, large wholesale, or retail food outlet
- new york state driver’s license at time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment
- city residency will be required within one year of hire
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- master’s degree plus one year of full-time experience in the maintenance and operation of a public market, large wholesale, or retail food outlet and one year of supervisory experience
- bachelor’s degree plus three years of full-time experience in the maintenance and operation of a public market, large wholesale, or retail food outlet and one year of supervisory experience
- associate’s degree plus five years of full-time experience in the maintenance and operation of a public market, large wholesale, or retail food outlet and one year of supervisory experience
- seven years of experience in the maintenance and operation of a public market, large wholesale, or retail food outlet and one year of supervisory experience
Job Duties
- prepares license agreements for rental of space and oversees invoicing and payment of fees
- supervises the conduct of market business, acting as arbiter in buyer-seller disputes
- enforces public market rules, regulations, and procedures
- plans special events and promotions
- interacts with a variety of organizations, partners, and individuals in planning for events and usage of the public market and international plaza
- enters data pertaining to stall licenses, utilization, and fees into management software
- assigns and coordinates the work of maintenance, administrative, and contracted security staff
- assists the director of public markets in preparing and administrating the operating and capital budgets of the sites
- works with diverse populations in the local community
- oversees marketing and social media for the public market and international plaza
- collects fees for rental and use of space
- deposits monies in the public market bank account
