Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in foods and nutrition, dietetics, hotel and restaurant management, or home economics
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in food management or related field
- Valid Safe SERV Certification and Safe SERV Trainer Certification
- Willingness to be a member of MSBO Food Service Committee
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Proficiency in digital tools and technology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA
- Ability to manage physical demands of kitchen environment
- Commitment to non-discrimination policies and substance-free workplace
- Compliance with Board Policies 3122, 4122, and 2260 on non-discrimination and ADA regulations
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Foods and Nutrition, Dietetics, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or Home Economics
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Food Management or a related field
- Safe SERV Certification and Safe SERV Trainer Certification
- Member of MSBO Food Service Committee or willingness to become a member
- Strong organizational skills with a creative and energetic leadership approach
- Comfortable with digital tools and technology
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
- Knowledge of catering and banquet services
- Ability to adapt to dynamic school environments
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent or designee
Job Duties
- Develop and manage nutritious, appealing, and student-focused breakfast and lunch programs for over 1,300 students
- Design and test menus based on student preferences and feedback
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate all aspects of meal preparation and service ensuring compliance with USDA, state, and local nutrition standards including HACCP protocols
- Oversee catering and banquet services for district events
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation across all facilities
- Monitor kitchen equipment, coordinate repairs, and recommend replacements as needed
- Oversee inventory management, ordering, and security of food, supplies, and equipment
- Complete all required reports for local, state, and federal agencies
- Report suspicions of neglect or abuse as required by policy
- Uphold confidentiality in accordance with FERPA
- Prepare and manage annual department budget
- Monitor food and supply costs and control waste
- Utilize district systems for data management and reporting
- Process Free and Reduced Meal Applications per federal guidelines
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate food service staff
- Provide ongoing staff development and training
- Coordinate staffing and scheduling for efficient operations
- Collaborate with staff, families, and advisory groups to support nutrition education and wellness
- Communicate with families through menus and newsletters
- Foster respectful communication
- Visit school sites regularly
- Maintain accurate records
- Implement district policies with integrity
- Remain free from substance abuse
- Comply with Board Policies on non-discrimination
- Perform other duties as assigned
