Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of CMS and DOH regulations related to food service
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at intermediate or advanced level
- Commitment to punctuality and professionalism
- Ability to perform job functions of each subordinate position when necessary
- Ability to maintain compliance with dress code and operational policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred
- Certified Dietary Manager preferred
- Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with Department of Health survey process preferred
- Computer skills consistent with nutritional software programs preferred
Job Duties
- Assists Director of Dining Services with overseeing the daily operations of dining services department including kitchen, dish room, food storage areas, and dining rooms
- Adheres to state regulations, current best practices, policies, and procedures for food preparation and meal service
- Ensures all dining services staff members follow department policies and procedures for food handling, preparation, and service
- Monitors food and non-food item inventory consistent with resident needs and weekly menu cycle
- Provides regular communication to Director and/or Administrator regarding food service operations
- Conducts routine audits and monitors performance improvement initiatives related to food service
- Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, in-service programs, and other meetings/programs as deemed appropriate
- Performs job functions of subordinate department positions when necessary
- Acts as Director of Dining Services in absence of the Director
- Regularly interacts and communicates with residents/family members regarding meal service
- Maintains working knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding meal service in post-acute care
- Acts as preceptor for food service students and interns
- Assists with training of new and current department staff
- Conducts in-service programs for dietary and facility staff upon request
- Provides feedback to Director and Administrator on work performance of Dining Services staff
- Utilizes electronic timekeeping system
- Adheres to facility dress code and name tag policy
- Follows policy regarding use of electronic devices
- Supports Elderwood's mission, vision, and values
- Abides by business code of conduct, compliance, and HIPAA policies
- Performs other assigned duties by supervisor or management staff
