Job Requirements

  • Two years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment
  • Knowledge of Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules
  • Availability to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Distribution or Logistics or four years of related work or military experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry
  • Positive attitude with multitasking and team motivation abilities
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and administrative skills

Job Duties

  • Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations
  • Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet department demands
  • Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks
  • Supervise hourly staff and act as primary contact for workplace concerns
  • Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and administrative functions
  • Plan hourly employee schedules to meet operations goals and lower costs
  • Enforce company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies, rules, regulations, and laws
  • Implement workplace policies and enforce compliance to optimize performance
  • Ensure customer freight is processed, handled and delivered timely and damage free
  • Coach and develop employees, conduct evaluations and issue corrective actions
  • Direct team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, suspension and termination
  • Develop and present action plans to improve load average and compliance
  • Participate in internal safety and engagement committees
  • Train employees on safety rules and processes
  • Monitor and maintain organization within the shift
  • Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policies
  • Inspect working conditions and direct corrections
  • Provide suggestions for operations improvement
  • Act as a champion of XPO values
  • Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing loading techniques
