Job Requirements

  • 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain or transportation
  • knowledge of Less-than-Truckload industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules
  • availability to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Distribution or Logistics preferred
  • 4 years of related work or military experience preferred
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • knowledge of Less-than-Truckload industry
  • knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules

Job Duties

  • Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations
  • develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving demands
  • evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks
  • supervise hourly staff and act as primary point of contact for workplace concerns
  • ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and administrative functions
  • plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily goals and reduce costs
  • enforce all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC, and DOT policies, rules, regulations and laws
  • implement and enforce workplace policies and procedures to optimize performance
  • ensure timely, damage-free processing, handling, loading and delivery of customer freight
  • coach and develop employees, conduct evaluations and issue corrective action when necessary
  • direct team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals
  • make recommendations on hiring, suspension and termination
  • develop and present action plans to improve load average and compliance
  • participate in safety and engagement committees
  • train employees on safety rules and processes
  • monitor and maintain organization within shift for safety and productivity
  • conduct daily staff meetings and communicate updates
  • inspect working conditions and direct corrections
  • provide instructions and suggestions for operational improvements
  • champion company values and hold team to high standards
  • minimize shipment rehandles by prioritizing direct loading, headloads and sector loading
