Job Requirements
- Two years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment
- knowledge of Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT rules and regulations
- availability to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends
- ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs frequently and over 75 lbs occasionally
- ability to perform physical activities such as reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting and kneeling
- ability to walk and stand for extended periods on an unconditioned loading dock
- willingness to work outside in inclement weather
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Distribution or Logistics or four years of related work or military experience preferred
- two years of supervisory experience preferred
- knowledge of the LTL industry
- strong leadership, communication and administrative skills
- positive attitude with multitasking ability
- experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, or transportation environment
Job Duties
- Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations
- develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands
- evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks
- supervise hourly staff and act as primary point of contact for workplace concerns
- ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and administrative functions
- plan hourly employee schedules to meet operations goals and reduce costs
- enforce company and regulatory policies including FMCSR, OSHA, and DOT
- implement workplace policies to optimize network performance
- ensure timely, damage-free freight processing and delivery
- coach and develop employees and conduct evaluations
- direct team to meet or exceed productivity goals
- make recommendations for hiring, suspension, and termination
- develop and present action plans to improve loads and compliance
- participate in safety and engagement committees
- train employees on safety rules and processes
- monitor and maintain shift organization for safety and productivity
- conduct daily staff meetings and communicate updates
- inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and correct issues
- provide operational improvement suggestions
- champion XPO values and enforce standards
- minimize shipment rehandles by prioritizing loading strategies
