Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Three years of food service operation experience including use of modified diets and service techniques
  • Experience working in large hospital or hotel/restaurant setting
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Food Handler certification within one year
  • Intermediate computer proficiency
  • Strong communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Physical ability to stand and walk most of the day
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs routinely and occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Comfortable working under temperature extremes and with kitchen hazards
  • Willingness to adhere to ethical conduct and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Minimum three years of experience in food service operations including service techniques, cashiering, sanitation, and modified diets in hospital or hotel/restaurant environment
  • Experience as a lead or senior level staff
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office or similar software
  • Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Self-directed, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated arithmetic calculation skills

Job Duties

  • Supervises the preparation and service of food and beverages in the main production kitchen and any satellite operations
  • Evaluates and recommends changes in techniques, methods, procedures, products, and equipment to ensure efficient operation within budgetary guidelines
  • Assigns and monitors work of staff and manages schedule
  • Maintains adequate staffing levels to meet food service needs and special functions
  • Directs and coordinates menu development to ensure quality, therapeutic appropriateness, and cost value ratios
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures including inventory, forecasting, ordering, labeling, storage, and portioning
  • Maintains food service safety programs and conducts regular safety inspections
  • Establishes quality standards for customer satisfaction and implements corrective actions
  • Develops and implements Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point program for sanitation and regulatory compliance
  • Manages production budgets and cost ratios, prepares annual budget and reports
  • Performs human resource duties including staff coaching, performance reviews, and personnel decisions
  • Ensures compliance with ethical conduct and organizational policies
