Job Description

This position is with an educational institution's food service department, which plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of students by providing nutritious, appealing, and compliant meals throughout the academic year. The department is responsible for managing food service operations across multiple school campuses, ensuring that all local, state, and federal regulations are strictly adhered to, including USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) standards. Serving approximately 211 duty days annually with a pay grade classification of AP 1, this role is essential to maintaining the quality and efficiency of school food programs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Service nutrition or a related field preferred
  • SERVSafe Certificate or other state approved Food Service Management Certificate required
  • at least two years food service management experience if holding a Bachelor's degree
  • or five years food service experience with three years successful management experience
  • strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • knowledge in kitchen operations and team training
  • competence in Microsoft Office and food service software
  • excellent customer service and public relations skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Service nutrition or a related field from an accredited institution preferred
  • Registered Dietitian preferred
  • SERVSafe Certificate or other state approved Food Service Management Certificate required
  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years food service management experience OR five years of food service experience with three years in a successful management role
  • strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • knowledgeable in all areas of kitchen operations and team training building
  • competent in Microsoft Office and food service software
  • excellent customer service and public relations skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily food service operations at assigned campuses
  • conduct regular school visits providing direction and feedback to staff
  • identify staff development needs set goals and create growth plans
  • ensure compliance with USDA TDA city and district regulations
  • conduct audits and on-site reviews
  • conduct staff evaluations according to district policy and department standards
  • lead training in food production sanitation safety customer service software and district department policies and standards
