Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in food service or dietary department
  • understanding of safety and sanitation regulations
  • effective leadership abilities
  • excellent organizational skills
  • ability to train and supervise staff
  • flexibility to work varied hours including weekends
  • ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure

  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • leadership and supervisory skills
  • ability to conduct audits and maintain records

  • basic computer literacy for record-keeping
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a hospital environment

Job Duties

  • Ensure daily operation of the Food and Nutrition Department including Main Kitchen, Room Service, Catering, Receiving, and Retail Outlet
  • complete opening and closing checklist per department regulations
  • conduct audits to evaluate food items, portion controls, temperature logs, meal rounds, test trays, Host/Hostess audits, and PI data
  • assist in maintenance of financial records
  • maintain appearance and merchandising of retail areas
  • ensure safety and sanitation standards compliance
  • check equipment and order repairs/maintenance
  • supervise sanitation and special cleaning projects
  • conduct monthly sanitation and safety inspection reports
  • assist with training of new employees
  • participate and contribute to department meetings, in-service and safety classes
  • promote teamwork and positive professional attitude among staff
