Job Requirements

  • Education: associate degree or completion of 2-year culinary arts food service program or 2 years additional experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience: four years relevant experience in food service supervision
  • Must hold one of the following licenses or certifications: Experior Food Safety Certification, National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Certification, Food Handlers Certification, Certified Foodservice Professional Program, Certified Dietary Manager, ServSafe Food Safety Certification, National Restaurant Association Certification
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Supervise food service staff for organizational functions, patients, and cafeteria
  • Oversee department safety and quality standards including regulatory compliance
  • Assist in menu development, revisions, and food costing
  • Prepare various foods requiring advanced culinary techniques
  • Ensure quality, portioning, and presentation of culinary services according to system standards
  • Support head chef or manager in meal production and service within deadlines
  • Enforce food hygiene, health, and safety regulations and sanitation standards
  • Fill in for the chef or manager in food preparation planning as necessary
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of food and nutritional services operations
  • Recommend and assist with developing departmental policies and procedures
  • Assist or maintain budget for operational expenses
  • Coordinate staff schedules to meet budget and staffing requirements
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance assessment of staff
  • Participate in hiring, training, onboarding, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Act as a first point of escalation and resolve staff conflicts
  • Perform other assigned duties as required
