Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or graduate of culinary school
  • 36 months experience in food services with 12 months supervisory experience
  • proficiency with kitchen tools and equipment
  • ability to perform basic math and simple accounting
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • physical stamina for fast-paced, demanding environment
  • ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • able to stand and walk long periods
  • willing to work nights and weekends
  • required Hepatitis A vaccine
  • compliant with University tuberculosis testing policy
  • ability to work during emergency University closings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or graduate of culinary school
  • minimum 36 months experience in food services including at least 12 months in a supervisory role
  • proficient in use of kitchen tools and equipment
  • skilled in safe and sanitary food handling
  • basic understanding of nutrition and portion control
  • effective communication skills in English
  • ability to read and interpret menus and instructions
  • demonstrates core values of Housing and Food Services

Job Duties

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned food service personnel
  • determine work priorities and plan staff schedules
  • assign and review work ensuring adherence to standards
  • prepare and serve food items following recipes and portion control guidelines
  • utilize kitchen utensils and industrial equipment safely and effectively
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dining areas
  • assist with special events and support other food services staff as needed
