Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or graduate of culinary school
  • 36 months experience in food services including 12 months in a supervisory role
  • must have working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office applications
  • must have demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English
  • must have demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
  • must be able to follow a lesson plan and speak in front of a group
  • must have excellent leadership skills
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Sanitation Certification may be required
  • perseverance physically and mentally for fast-paced responsibilities
  • ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • ability to stand or walk for long periods and climb stairs
  • adapt to large kitchen environments with varying temperatures
  • availability to work nights and weekends
  • subject to background and police records check

Job Duties

  • Supervise, train and evaluate assigned personnel
  • determine work priorities and plan schedules
  • assign and review work
  • prepare, produce and serve food items following recipes and portion control standards
  • utilize various kitchen utensils, appliances and heavy/industrial equipment in food preparation
  • serve food in a courteous and respectful manner with proper portion control
  • load, carry and transport hot or cold food items or containers to customers or serving lines safely and efficiently
  • wash, sanitize and store pots, pans and kitchen utensils
  • clean tables, serving areas, counters and floors
  • assist with special events and catering needs across the university
  • voluntarily support other food services staff when necessary
