Job Requirements
- two to three years of experience in responsible record keeping or clerical work, preferably in a school district
- experience involving frequent contact with the public and children
- experience with attendance record keeping
- sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for computer keyboard use
- ability to type for prolonged periods
- ability to sit frequently
- adequate visual acuity to read words, letters, and numbers
- effective auditory and verbal communication skills
- physical ability to bend, stoop, squat, and reach above/below shoulder level
- ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally
- 3 professional references with contact information preferred
- live scan background check
- TB clearance
- typing certificate with 40 wpm speed
Job Qualifications
- knowledge of office methods, filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques
- proficiency in letter and report writing
- strong command of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- skill in operating office machines
- basic computer input and retrieval skills
- ability to function under pressure and maintain composure
- accuracy and speed in clerical work
- understanding of school attendance accounting rules and privacy of student records
- confidentiality maintenance
- ability to compile and maintain accurate attendance records
- quick and accurate arithmetic skills
- ability to prepare reports and maintain records
- understanding and carrying out oral and written directions
- tactful and courteous public interaction
- typing speed of 40 words per minute
- Red Cross first aid certificate
- cooperative work relationship establishment and maintenance
Job Duties
- perform routine clerical, secretarial, and receptionist tasks
- maintain and compile student attendance records
- report average daily attendance to the District Office
- maintain records, files, and prepare brief reports
- deposit funds and manage petty cash with auditable records
- keep employee time records
- prepare internal attendance reports on student absenteeism daily
- readmit students after absences and verify the nature of absence
- operate various office machines
- confer with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student welfare
- type documents from oral directions or rough drafts
- arrange appointments for students with district support personnel
- administer first aid to students in absence of nurse
- maintain confidentiality of student records
- perform other related duties as assigned
